Outreach Athletic Trainer 2 – Full‑time Sports Medicine Role

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Sports Medicine is seeking a full‑time Outreach Athletic Trainer 2 to provide patient‑centered care in Coral Gables, FL. The role involves clinical evaluation, treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, and on‑site event coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health histories and physical assessments for acute and chronic injuries.
• Perform range‑of‑motion, strength, neurovascular, and functional testing.
• Review and update Pre‑participation Physical Evaluation forms and manage clearance referrals.
• Document baseline testing, including concussion protocols, in the electronic medical record.
• Fit and educate patients on the use of splints, braces, crutches, and other orthopedic appliances.
• Provide wound care, gait training, and splint application/removal.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for students in sports‑medicine rotations.
• Develop event‑specific emergency action plans and maintain inventory for remote work locations.

Required profile

• Certified Athletic Trainer (CAT) credential.
• Experience delivering athletic‑training services in clinical and field settings.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with athletes, coaches, and healthcare providers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
