Outpatient Pharmacist

About the role

The Outpatient Pharmacist supports safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations of the outpatient pharmacy at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. Working under the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager, the pharmacist provides prescription oversight, patient counseling, and clinical support for ambulatory initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Process, verify, and dispense prescriptions while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide patient counseling and medication education.
• Support workflow, quality initiatives, and operational monitoring.
• Assist with prior authorization, medication access, and follow‑up for outpatient clinics.
• Maintain 340B Drug Pricing Program compliance, including documentation and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with pharmacy, clinic, and hospital leadership on clinical projects.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
• Current Arizona pharmacist license in good standing.
• Minimum one year of pharmacy experience (outpatient, retail, ambulatory, or hospital preferred).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information and maintain professional appearance.

Required skills

• Pharmacy claims adjudication and third‑party billing.
• Point‑of‑sale workflow and inventory management.
• Prior authorization processes and medication access workflows.
• 340B program operations and split‑billing concepts.
• Experience with Meditech or other electronic medical record systems.
• Understanding of pharmacy computer systems, process design, and data management.
