Outpatient Dietitian

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring an outpatient dietitian. The role centers on diabetes self-management education and medical nutrition therapy, working closely with the Diabetes RN educator.

Key responsibilities

• Provide diabetes self-management education through individual counseling and group settings, and give inpatient diabetes education consultations when the RN educator is unavailable
• Collaborate with the Diabetes RN educator and regularly review and revise the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support curriculum to reflect current evidence
• Deliver medical nutrition therapy aligned with patient medical goals, including assessment of nutritional needs, individualized care plans and goals
• Evaluate, interpret, monitor and document nutritional status using American Diabetes Association and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics evidence-based guidelines
• Provide age-specific nutrition counseling that meets the cultural needs of patients and their families
• Educate families, staff and the community on nutrition-related topics

Required profile

• B.S. degree and completion of an ACEND-accredited nutrition and dietetics education program
• Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed in Florida
• At least 3 years of prior experience in a clinical healthcare setting
• BLS (CPR) certified
• Preferred: Certified Diabetes Educator, or willingness to obtain it; bilingual Spanish is a plus

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of health, nutrition, weight management, physical activity and fitness
• Proficiency in multiple EMR systems and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Comfortable using telehealth platforms for patient encounters
• Ability to work with the Diabetes RN educator and provide peer support and mentorship
