Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Pain Management

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring an APRN for its pain management program. The role works closely with cardiovascular critical-care patients, physicians and nurses to help develop the Open-Heart Surgical program, manage inpatient care and support post-surgical cardiac patients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive, individualized care during the inpatient phase with Cardiothoracic Surgeons, using evidence to guide practice interventions
• Evaluate post-surgical cardiac patients and set criteria to measure the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice in line with STS guidelines
• Consult with the nursing and healthcare teams, patients and families
• Teach and educate nurses, the healthcare team, patients and families in the CVICU and PCU using teaching theories and strategies
• Work with the Clinical Manager and Executive Director of the Cardiovascular service line, and assist the STS data abstractor with quality measures
• Take part in multi-disciplinary rounds and communicate with patients, families and physicians
• Reconcile patient discharge medications and make mandatory post-discharge phone calls to monitor care
• Participate in research activities suited to education and experience

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and an accredited Advanced Practice nursing program (ARNP or CNS)
• Current Florida ARNP license
• At least 2 years of cardiovascular critical-care hospital experience
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pull/push up to 40 lbs; work in a stressful environment
• Annual Joint Commission education, TB/PPD surveillance and maintenance of professional licenses

The position is salaried with flexible hours depending on patient and nursing team needs, with occasional call required.
