Medical Assistant - Pain Management

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Medical Assistant for its pain management practice. The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the practice under the physician's direct responsibility, covering patient care management, administrative and clinical procedures and supervisory duties.

Key responsibilities

• Vital signs and patient preparation for examination
• Entering lab and imaging orders and collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
• Updating patient medical records and answering phones
• Scheduling appointments and removing sutures and dressings
• Transmitting prescription refills and performing other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program, with one year in a medical office preferred; otherwise three years of experience in a medical office is required
• Medical assistance certification preferred
• Experience in medical assisting and knowledge of outpatient medicine
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments, and of common safety hazards and precautions
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, capable of sound decisions, with computer and customer service skills
• Physical ability to handle and lift patients, stand, walk and sit, with exposure to bodily fluids

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical practice, patient care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
• Annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance, and maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification
