Ophthalmic Technician 1 – Specialty (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician 1 – Specialty for a full‑time position in Doral, Florida. The technician will perform clinical, diagnostic and specialty‑specific procedures that support the evaluation, treatment and management of eye conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ophthalmic testing, measurements and specialty‑specific procedures according to training and protocols.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic studies, treatments or procedures, explaining processes and answering questions.
• Obtain and document patient histories, clinical findings, test results and procedural data in the electronic medical record.
• Operate ophthalmic instruments, imaging systems and specialty equipment relevant to assigned clinical services.
• Assist physicians and care teams with examinations or procedures, providing pre‑ and post‑procedure patient support.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum two years of relevant ophthalmic experience.
• BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association.
