Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technologist – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth at SoLé Mia is seeking a full‑time Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technologist to support the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. The technologist will perform a variety of eye‑care diagnostic tests, ensure accurate documentation, and assist patients throughout the testing process.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and ensure compliance with safety and infection‑control protocols.
• Measure intraocular pressure and axial length of the eye using tonometry and ultrasound equipment.
• Conduct visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception assessments.
• Perform advanced imaging tests such as OCT scans, B‑scan ultrasonography, fundus photography, corneal topography, and visual field testing.
• Document test results and patient histories accurately in the EMR system.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide clear pre‑test instructions.
