Operator II – Pilot Plant & Research Plant Technician

About the role

Lummus Technology is seeking an Operator II to safely operate, monitor, and support pilot‑plant and research‑plant units. The role combines hands‑on equipment handling, sample collection, and compliance with rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Lummus HSE policies, conduct inspections, and follow Process Safety Management practices (MOC, PSSR).
• Operate and monitor pilot‑plant and research units, record data, and take routine samples for laboratory analysis.
• Assist with construction, modification, and commissioning of equipment, including tubing installation and leak testing.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of small‑scale process equipment such as pumps and mass‑flow controllers.
• Handle and prepare feedstocks (e.g., C4‑C12 hydrocarbons), manage drums, cylinders, and LPG/petroleum shipments.
• Operate forklifts, personnel lifts, and other authorized plant equipment safely.

Required profile

• Strong safety awareness and mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DeltaV DCS).
• Installation of stainless‑steel and copper tubing using dual‑ferrule compression fittings.
• Leak testing and insulation of pressure equipment.
• Knowledge of positive displacement pumps and mass‑flow controllers.
• Familiarity with associated instrumentation and process equipment.
• Safe handling of hydrocarbons (C4s, C12s) and material logistics.
• Operation of forklifts and personnel lifts.
