Buyer I – Procurement for Engineered Projects

About the role

The Buyer I supports procurement for engineered‑to‑order projects such as modular datacenters, packaged air, chilled water systems, and power plants. Working in an MRP‑driven environment, the buyer manages project‑specific purchases, sources commodities, and develops supplier relationships while ensuring contractual compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain frequent communication with suppliers from order placement through receipt to meet quality and schedule requirements.
• Develop and monitor supplier recovery plans for quality issues or delays.
• Communicate risks and changes to internal TAS personnel.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate supplier quotations.
• Support pre‑qualification of potential suppliers.
• Reconcile Bill of Materials (BOM) to planned orders and purchase orders, resolving discrepancies with configuration management.
• Maintain supplier PO promise dates and receipt data in the ERP system.
• Advise senior management on non‑standard contractual issues that pose legal or business risk.
• Report on supplier performance metrics and other assigned objectives.
• Resolve receiving discrepancies by comparing purchase orders to delivery documentation.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of purchasing/expediting experience in a custom engineered, make‑to‑order manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of general manufacturing practices, policies, and processes.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high‑school diploma acceptable with relevant experience.
• Ability to work under pressure and follow standard work processes.

Required skills

• Infor/LN purchasing module knowledge (plus ERP/MRP principles).
• Microsoft Office Suite, with basic Excel proficiency.
