Buyer I – Procurement for Engineered-to-Order Projects

About the role

The Buyer I supports procurement for engineered‑to‑order projects such as modular datacenters, packaged air and chilled water systems, and power plants. Working in an MRP‑driven environment, the buyer manages project‑specific purchases, sources commodities, and develops supplier relationships to ensure contractual compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain frequent communication with suppliers from order placement to receipt, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
• Develop and monitor supplier recovery plans for quality issues or delays.
• Communicate risks and changes to internal TAS personnel.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate supplier quotations.
• Support pre‑qualification of potential suppliers.
• Reconcile Bill of Materials to planned orders and purchase orders, resolving discrepancies with Configuration Management.
• Maintain supplier PO promise dates and material receipt in the ERP system.
• Advise senior management on non‑standard contractual issues.
• Maintain and report metrics on supplier performance.
• Resolve receiving discrepancies by comparing purchase orders to delivery documentation.

Required profile

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Organized self‑starter capable of minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow standard work processes and improve departmental procedures.
• Good organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of materials management, purchasing methods, and expediting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
• Foundation level understanding of ERP/MRP principles.

Required skills

• Infor/LN purchasing module experience (a plus).
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, especially basic Excel.
• General ERP/MRP system knowledge.
