Operations Supply Chain Engagement Manager

About the role

Oliver Wyman's Operations practice helps clients improve cost efficiency, reduce supply chain risk and optimise their footprint. The Engagement Manager role sits within the Operations Supply Chain capability and works across several major cities, including Chicago, New York, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Washington D.C., Toronto and San Francisco.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the execution of individual project workstreams: develop hypotheses, collect data, build models and analyses, guide primary and secondary research and surface insights
• Synthesise findings from interviews and client working sessions into written presentations and discuss them with clients and stakeholders
• Support the Partner group in project delivery with accurate, high-quality execution
• Manage a team of 2-4 consultants daily; at Principal level, manage 6-8 consultants and directly manage mid-senior level clients
• At Principal level: develop proposals, lead or take part in business development and pitching

Required profile

• 4-7+ years of consulting experience in operations, in industry and/or with consulting firms (6-8+ years for Principal)
• Preferred: experience with a top-tier management consulting firm
• Preferred: experience in proposal development, strong commercial instincts and interest (Principal level)

Required skills

• Operations experience in discrete or continuous manufacturing, ideally across product development, planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics or distribution
• Experience in improvement efforts in operations
• Supply chain optimisation and IT-enablement tools preferred
• Certification strongly preferred: CSCMP, APICS / ISCM or ISM
• Strong problem structuring, analytical and critical thinking skills, independent work under ambiguity, and refined written and oral communication
