Operating Room Registered Nurse (PRN Days)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Operating Room in Avista, Colorado, on a PRN day-shift basis. The nurse provides direct patient care in the operating room, working with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, continuous care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions and needs through comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized care plans.
• Develop and implement care plans with the interdisciplinary team and adjust them as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely according to prescribed protocols.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress and document care activities in accurate medical records.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and post-discharge care.
• Advocate for patient safety by identifying risks and implementing preventive measures.
• Maintain a sterile environment and follow safety protocols to prevent infection.
• Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions such as IVs, wound care, catheterization and specimen collection.
• Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families during recovery and take part in quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred).
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical experience (1 year of surgery experience preferred).
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and Registered Nurse (RN) license; additional licensure or certification may apply depending on the unit or state.
• Proficiency in English and ability to communicate effectively.

Required skills

• Knowledge of equipment, procedures, supplies, IV pumps, glucose monitors and I-STAT.
• EMR charting and familiarity with EHR systems (preferred).
• Independent, self-motivated work following directions from physicians and management.
