Oncology Pharmacist – Westbank

About the role

The Oncology Pharmacist will join a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care team at Ochsner Health, ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for oncology patients. This position involves preparing, dispensing, and verifying medications while providing patient education and clinical pharmacy services.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate physician orders considering allergies, renal function, lab values, and best practice protocols.
• Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile and investigational products, with a focus on safety and accuracy.
• Monitor patient drug therapy, document interventions, and assess adverse drug reactions.
• Provide drug information, patient counseling, and clinical support to the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.

Required profile

• Current pharmacy license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
• Ability to compound pharmaceuticals and operate technical pharmacy equipment.
