Oncology Nurse Surveyor

About the role

The Oncology Nurse Surveyor (RN Field Representative) travels nationwide to evaluate acute‑care facilities for compliance with Joint Commission standards. This position blends clinical oncology expertise with quality‑assurance leadership to support health‑care organizations in delivering safe, high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site surveys of health‑care organizations across the United States, observing clinical practices, emergency procedures, and facility operations.
• Apply systems analysis and inductive reasoning to assess compliance with applicable standards and identify system vulnerabilities.
• Engage staff in interactive dialogues to clarify standards‑based issues and recommend improvement opportunities.
• Prepare detailed management reports linking identified deficiencies to organizational risk points.
• Communicate findings constructively to senior leadership and participate in additional Joint Commission activities as assigned.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved nursing school with a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Current RN license, maintained throughout employment.
• Minimum five years recent health‑care experience, including at least three years of direct oncology clinical practice.
• At least two years of accreditation, certification leadership, or senior management experience.
• Direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys and strong knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
• Excellent critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
