O&M Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail Honolulu is seeking a self‑motivated O&M Engineer to join its team in Pearl City, HI. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation and maintenance of signaling and telecommunications subsystems throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead O&M requirements management and coordinate documentation at system and subsystem levels.
• Provide monitoring, oversight, and technical support for telecommunication and network equipment.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for field technicians during troubleshooting and fault resolution.
• Prepare monthly failure reporting and corrective‑action analysis for signaling and telecom subsystems.
• Maintain hardware and software configuration via the Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS).
• Conduct physical configuration audits and analyze log files to identify issues.
• Support spare‑parts management, repair cycles, and usage tracking.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications and lead change‑management activities.

Required profile

• 2–5+ years of field experience in rail transit signaling or telecommunications.
• Knowledge of rolling stock systems, components, and testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical mindset and team‑player attitude.
