Occupational Therapy Assistant

About the role

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice and community-based services. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) you will deliver skilled therapeutic services to patients in their homes to support functional independence and improve daily living skills. You work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, implementing individualized treatment plans, monitoring progress and documenting outcomes in line with physician orders and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide skilled interventions according to the physician-approved plan of care, under the direction and supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Document each visit according to AOTA documentation guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Observe, record and report the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising OT, physician and other clinical staff.
• Provide patient and caregiver resources for future ADL/IADL needs and promote wellness and prevention through occupational engagement.
• Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and services, and recommend follow-up care in coordination with the admitting care center.
• Stay current on occupational therapy trends, documentation skills and care coordination.

Required profile

• Current license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the state of assignment.
• Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
• Eligible for or has passed the NBCOT entry-level certification exam.
• One year of related OTA experience; if less, approval from regional clinical leaders and a mentoring or residency program is required.
• Current CPR certification.

What we offer

• Total cash compensation of $53,528 - $80,292 for full-time work (40 weekly hours), made up of per-visit point pay and hourly pay.
