Occupational Therapist PRN

About the role

AdventHealth Polk is hiring a part-time, day-shift Occupational Therapist (PRN) in Columbus, North Carolina. The therapist performs evaluations, sets up and runs individualized treatment plans, teaches patients and caregivers, and discharges patients when appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Perform evaluations and re-evaluations using recommended techniques and standards.
• Establish, implement and adapt individualized treatment plans, including goal setting, treatment activities and frequency.
• Document accurately, completely and timely using measurable and objective terminology.
• Identify the need for patient and caregiver education and use teaching opportunities, including discharge recommendations.
• Discharge patients when maximum benefit is achieved or according to practice standards and payer guidelines.
• Charge patients accurately, timely and legibly.
• Maintain clinical knowledge, use evidence-based practices and serve as a clinical instructor; support quality standards and performance improvement.
• Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and rehabilitation therapy aides.
• Practice employee and patient safety, manage time efficiently and adjust work hours to patient needs.
• Support consumer marketing and public awareness through community events and educational lectures.

Required profile

• Master's degree preferred; education must meet the licensing or certification standards of the relevant body.
• Licensed or certified Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapist - Temporary (OT-T).
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required.
• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English.

Required skills

• Effective communication with patients, staff, physicians, nurses and administrators.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Pay range: $30.58 - $56.87. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
