Occupational Therapist I – Full‑time Acute Care

About the role

The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Occupational Therapist I to provide acute‑care rehabilitation services at the UHealth Tower in Miami, FL. The role follows AOTA guidelines and contributes to the development of therapy programs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations of new patients, set goals, and create individualized treatment plans.
• Document all evaluations, treatments, and patient interactions accurately.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and therapeutic processes.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, physicians, and support staff.
• Participate in quality‑and‑safety initiatives and supervise assistants and support personnel.
• Instruct physical therapy students and contribute to educational programs for staff and the community.
• Assist in program development, marketing efforts, and professional growth activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
• Florida licensure in Occupational Therapy (no experience required).
• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize under pressure, and discretion with confidential information.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to university core values and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
