Nutrition Services Assistant - Retail

About the role

Cleveland Clinic's Martin North Hospital in downtown Stuart, Florida, is hiring a Nutrition Services Assistant. The role supports the set-up, delivery and food service of meals, helping patients, visitors and caregivers with their dietary needs. The position is Monday to Friday, either 6:00am to 2:30pm or 11:00am to 7:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and replenish the steam table, salad bar, cooler, baker's racks, coffee area, condiments and silverware during the meal period.
• Make pizzas to order and maintain all ingredients.
• Set up and support catering events.
• Maintain the register and handle cash correctly, keeping overages and shortages under 1.5% of the total drawer.
• Check food temperature with calibrated thermometers and rotate, prepare and label leftovers.
• Set up, serve and collect patient dinner trays and complete cleaning assignments.
• Perform other clinical Nutrition Services Assistant duties as needed.

Required profile

• Good reading and writing skills.
• Ability to add, subtract and handle other arithmetic functions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to organize work tasks and function without close supervision.
• Able to measure accurately for preparation and portioning.
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED, two years of nutrition experience in a healthcare setting, training in institutional food preparation, prior restaurant kitchen experience, and knowledge of cooking methods.

Physical requirements

• Able to stand for 8 hours, push loaded carts and lift items up to 25 pounds.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
