About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurological Surgery seeks a full‑time Nurse Specialist to lead ambulatory triage for patients with complex cranial and spinal conditions. Working on a hybrid schedule, you will assess, coordinate, and enhance outpatient care while serving as a mentor and change agent for nursing staff.
Key responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, triage symptoms, and coordinate care in an outpatient setting.
- Interpret laboratory results and contribute to diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Provide patient education, including pre‑ and post‑operative guidance.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Mentor and precept nursing students, new graduates, and visiting professionals.
- Participate in weekly MRI multidisciplinary committee meetings and follow up on recommendations.
- Monitor patient outcomes and modify care plans based on assessment data.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Florida.
- Experience in neurosurgical or complex outpatient nursing, preferably with cranial/spinal patients.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to act as a change agent.
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills.
