About the role
The Wainwright Unit seeks a qualified Nurse Clinician (RN) to deliver direct, patient‑centered nursing care within a correctional setting. You will join an interdisciplinary team focused on meeting the health needs of underserved populations in Texas prisons and juvenile facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document daily care for assigned patients.
- Develop individualized nursing diagnoses and care plans, revising them as needed.
- Execute physician orders, administer medications, and perform both routine and complex technical procedures.
- Coordinate and prioritize patient care activities according to skill level and workload.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff and respond to emergency situations typical of the specialty population.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas, with at least two years of clinical RN experience (recent graduates may be considered).
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS‑HP) certification.
- Ability to obtain required security clearance and pass pre‑employment drug testing.
Required skills
- BLS‑HP certification.
