Nurse Clinician (RN) – Casual Position in Coffield Unit

About the role

The Coffield Unit seeks a qualified RN to work as a Nurse Clinician on a casual, non‑benefit‑eligible basis. You will provide direct, patient‑centered nursing care within a correctional health setting, supporting an interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document daily care for assigned patients.
• Identify patient needs, formulate nursing diagnoses, develop and revise individualized care plans.
• Execute physician orders, administer medications and treatments, and deliver culturally congruent care.
• Perform routine and complex technical nursing procedures independently.
• Prioritize and coordinate patient care activities according to skill level and workload.
• Adhere to internal controls, reporting structures, and facility policies.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with at least two years of clinical experience.
• Current, unrestricted Texas RN license or valid permit.
• Current Basic Life Support – Health Provider (BLS‑HP) certification.
• Ability to obtain required security clearance and pass pre‑employment drug testing.
• Willingness to work up to 19 hours per week in a prison, jail, or juvenile detention environment.
