Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a PRN Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Dade City, Florida. The technologist performs nuclear medicine procedures, maintains equipment quality control and works with radiologists to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure equipment meets quality control requirements and perform patient examinations with age-specific care, evaluating image quality
• Collaborate with radiologists and other providers on imaging and patient care continuity
• Perform nuclear medicine procedures with camera acquisition and computer processing, and help train coworkers and students
• Keep the room ready, document work orders for malfunctioning equipment and enter quality control, radionuclide administration and charge data into the Nuclear Medicine Information System and Order Communication System
• Confirm patient identity and exam accuracy, check physician requests against clinical indicators, and release images only after confirming proper assignment
• Prepare radionuclides, explain procedures to patients and administer them aseptically following universal BSI principles

Required profile

• Associate degree preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Conversational reading, writing and speaking of English; additional languages preferred

Required skills

• Knowledge of scintigraphic equipment, hot lab equipment and radiation safety (ALARA)
• Ability to learn and use radiology software such as Cerner, RadWorks and PACS
• Basic EKG knowledge and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
• Basic clerical skills for records and documentation
