NP/PA Primary Care Provider – 65+ Patients

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks dedicated Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) to provide primary care for patients aged 65 and older in a collaborative outpatient setting. The role works under the supervision of a Medical Director and partners with residents, fellows, attendings, nurses and discharge coordinators.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize approved medical practice processes to deliver patient care.
• Provide comprehensive care addressing physical, psychosocial and educational needs of patients 65 and older.
• Educate patients, families, staff and the community on health topics.
• Adapt communication and procedures to respect patient privacy and preferences.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing for NP or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies for PA.
• Current state license as APRN (Family/Adult‑Geriatric Nurse Practitioner) or PA, with NCCPA certification for PA.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Eligibility for prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
• Preferred: 3 years of related experience (not required).

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer data entry and retrieval.
• Experience using Windows‑style applications and related software.
• Ability to perform BCLS and ACLS procedures.
