NPI Manager – Buyer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced NPI Manager, Buyer to lead procurement activities that support new product introduction and ongoing production. The role is based in San Francisco and focuses on ensuring reliable vendor relationships, cost‑effective purchasing, and alignment with engineering and manufacturing needs.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the activities of buyers and expediters to meet company objectives.
• Evaluate vendor reliability and maintain strong working relationships.
• Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures for procurement operations.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and performance of major sub‑contracts.
• Coordinate purchasing with engineering and manufacturing to keep inventory at planned levels.

• Experience receiving assignments with clear objectives and delivering results.
• Capability to recommend and implement policy changes.
• Proven leadership in providing direction to employees and administering company policies.
