Night Shift RN - PCU/Stepdown (PRN)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a registered nurse for night shifts on a PRN flex contract in its PCU/stepdown unit in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. The pay is listed as $63 per hour plus shift differential, with a stated range of $15 to $130.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly and continuously, analyze assessment data and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care aligned with interdisciplinary goals.
• Implement interventions from the plan of care safely and document actions taken.
• Collect and document patient health data systematically and on time.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following protocols and ensuring patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, families and staff, and promote timely patient placement through admission, discharge and transfer policies.
• Educate patients and families on their conditions, procedures and care plans.
• Participate in peer interviewing and peer review, and contribute to quality, safety and effectiveness initiatives.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensure safe handoffs, follow CDC isolation guidelines and use PPE correctly.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking and writing).
• BLS/CPR certification required; TNCC certification preferred.
• Additional licensure or certification may apply depending on unit or state.

Required skills

• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise the plan of care.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows programs.
