Night Shift Lab Supervisor

About the role

The Lab Supervisor oversees daily laboratory operations during the night shift, leading a small team of approximately three employees. This hands‑on leader ensures efficient workflow, accurate testing, and compliance with quality and safety standards while meeting turnaround time expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all laboratory activities on the night shift, assigning work and monitoring sample flow.
• Conduct shift huddles, communicate priorities, and provide hands‑on support for testing and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, company SOPs, and safety procedures, and promptly address any deviations.
• Coach, train, and develop night‑shift staff, handling performance feedback and attendance matters.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and turnaround times.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Food Technology, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory operations or a regulated environment.
• Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, FDA, USDA, or similar regulatory standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 quality requirements.
• Understanding of FDA and USDA regulatory guidelines.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts for calculations and metrics.
