Night Library Associate – Access & Delivery Services

About the role

The Night Library Associate works in Access and Delivery Services at Pius XII Memorial Library, providing high‑level service to patrons during evening and weekend hours. This position serves as the primary liaison between SLU‑Link libraries, the courier, and the Inter‑library Loan department.

Key responsibilities

• Perform circulation duties, answer reference and directional questions, and guide users in database searches.
• Close the library building, ensure security of collections, and supervise evening and weekend student workers.
• Oversee all library billing, replacement of lost or damaged items, and place academic holds for unreturned materials.
• Manage external loan requests, hold‑shelf and in‑transit items, and act as liaison for items lost in transit.
• Pack Inter‑library Loan shipments for courier pickup and support the ILL coordinator.
• Prepare reports, participate in committees, and stay current with library technologies and practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of recent library experience.
• Supervisory experience and ability to interpret library policies.
• Effective communication, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with integrated library systems.
• Experience using database applications.
• Familiarity with content management systems.
