New Grad RN Resident - Med/Surg & Post-Op Surgery

About the role

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's Parkview III Complex Medical Care unit cares mainly for post-operative patients, including orthopaedic, spine, low-risk bariatric, urology, vascular, colorectal and general surgery cases, as well as surgical and trauma patients. As a new graduate RN resident on nights (7:00pm-7:30am), you will provide direct nursing care alongside a coach, interact with patients and their families and give healthcare education as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a coach, following established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Set and revise patient care priorities based on acuity, patient preference and resource availability.
• Initiate and maintain interventions to ensure safe, effective care and respond to risks to patient health.
• Seek supervision and consultation when unable to act safely and independently.
• Document in the patient's medical record according to established guidelines and follow personnel policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current state RN licensure and proof of BLS (AHA) on hire; ACLS (AHA) required for critical care, or within the first year.
• New grad or less than one year of RN experience, or an experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute inpatient care with less than one year of acute direct care experience.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, in a stressful environment, with irregular hours, and exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
• Physical demands include lifting and handling patients, prolonged standing and walking, and standard precautions with PPE.
