New Grad RN Resident - Med/Surg & Neurology/Stroke

About the role

Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's Parkview Terrace is a 36-bed complex medical care, stroke care and epilepsy monitoring nursing unit. As a New Grad RN Resident on this unit, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering patient care, interacting directly with patients, families and visitors. The shift is nights, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with weekend and holiday requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise patient care priorities (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients' health and act to correct, reduce or prevent it.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients' medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• New grad or less than one year of RN experience, or an experienced RN moving from a non-inpatient to an acute inpatient direct care setting with less than one year of current acute direct care experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; ACLS required for critical care areas, within the first year of hire.

Required skills

• BLS certification.
• Ability to handle and lift patients, stand and walk for long periods, and work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
