New Grad RN Resident – Cardiovascular Surgery Stepdown

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the J51 cardiovascular telemetry unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, caring for post‑open heart, surgical and ventricular assist device patients. This 24‑bed step‑down unit offers a fast‑paced environment where new nurses gain hands‑on experience with innovative procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to cardiovascular surgery patients under the guidance of a success coach.
• Participate in the one‑year accredited Nurse Residency program, completing core curriculum modules, simulation labs and hands‑on training.
• Document patient care accurately in medical records and respond to clinical data indicating patient risk.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for critical‑care areas.
• New graduate or less than one year of acute inpatient RN experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (if applicable).
• Valid RN license.
