New Grad RN Resident - Cardiovascular Medicine Stepdown

About the role

The Cardiovascular Medicine Stepdown Unit is a 25‑bed unit providing high‑acuity care for cardiac patients, including post‑MI, post‑intervention, heart failure, and dysrhythmia management. New graduate nurses will rotate on 12‑hour shifts and receive structured residency training.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach, following rotating shifts (7:00 am–7:30 pm or 7:00 pm–7:30 am).
• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and initiate corrective actions.
• Document care accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• New graduate or less than one year of RN experience, or RN transitioning to acute inpatient care with less than one year of acute experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within the first year of hire for critical care areas.
