The position is full time, based in Houston, with up to 10% continental US travel.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded flight software to control CO2, H2O and gas analyzer sensors.
- Create unit tests from self-developed test plans using the UT-Assert framework and Gcov, covering C code structurally and functionally.
- Evaluate unit test results (pass/fail, path coverage, loop boundaries, MC/DC) and troubleshoot failed tests.
- Perform C code reviews, collaborate on test issues, and run regression testing.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases and scripts, and execute manual and automated tests.
- Track defects with issue tracking tools and work with developers to resolve them.
- Perform systems engineering for requirements, interfaces, design and performance analysis, and integrate and test software/hardware in avionics test beds and flight certification environments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors across NASA programs and follow JSC standard software process practices.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least three years of embedded software development experience; more is highly valued.
- Significant experience across the entire software life cycle, with strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
- Desired: M.S. degree, aerospace systems experience, and experience in human-rated space vehicle software.
Required skills
- Strong C programming and Linux development experience.
- C/C++ unit tests with a framework such as Google Test (gTEST), UT-Assert or CppUnit.
- Embedded firmware for microcontrollers.
- Preferred: GitLab and Git, Python, bus protocols (RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, LVDS, 1553, USB, Ethernet), NASA Core Flight Software, Jira, Agile/Scrum, CMMI Level 3, and automated testing.
What we offer
- Proposed pay range of $76,000 - $155,700 USD, depending on experience, skills and contract terms.
- Healthcare, wellness, financial, retirement, family support, continuing education and time off benefits.
- A flexible time off benefit, learning resources and a culture of integrity and continuous growth.
