Software Integration Engineer - NASA Moon Base Flight Software

About the role

CACI is looking for an experienced Avionics and Flight Software Test Facility Software Integration Engineer to support the build-out, integration and operation of NASA's Moon Base Flight Software Integration Laboratory at the NASA Johnson Space Center. The position is full time, based in Houston, with up to 10% travel within the continental US and requires a minimum NAC clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop software emulators for lunar assets.
• Perform software integration, test and verification.
• Integrate hardware components, as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors across multiple NASA programs and projects.
• Ensure adherence to JSC standard software process practices.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Three or more years of experience in software development for safety-critical software; more experience is highly valued.
• Strong C programming skills.
• Experience in software and hardware integration for safety-critical software, in aerospace or another industry such as oil and gas.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired qualifications

• M.S. in a related engineering or computer science discipline.
• Familiarity with avionics integration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with NASA's Core Flight Software (cFS) framework.
• Embedded software for real-time operating systems, preferably VxWorks.
• Human-rated space vehicles and bus-communication protocols such as 1553, RS-422, RS-232, USB and Ethernet.
• Automated and verification testing, GitLab, Git, and Jira.
