Multi-Sport Lead Coach (Ages 1-10)

About the role

Amazing Athletes is looking for a Lead Coach to join its founding team as it expands youth sports programs across Colorado Springs. The program teaches children the basics of several sports while building confidence, coordination, teamwork and listening skills, with a primary focus on preschool-aged children (around age 3) and opportunities to coach children ages 1-10 as the program grows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fun, engaging classes for young children
• Create a positive, encouraging environment where every child feels successful
• Teach age-appropriate sports skills through games, imagination and movement
• Build relationships with school staff, parents and children
• Be prepared and ready to lead each class with enthusiasm, representing the organization professionally

Required profile

• Natural leader who can quickly earn the attention of preschoolers and lead a class independently from day one
• Positive, enthusiastic, patient, reliable and punctual
• Comfortable speaking with parents and school staff
• Physically active, able to lift and carry sports equipment (about 30 lbs.) and work indoors and outdoors
• 18 years or older, with reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Colorado Springs
• Background check and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred qualifications

• Early childhood education, preschool or pre-K teaching, elementary education, child development or youth sports coaching experience
• Professional experience with children ages 1-6
• General knowledge of sports (the curriculum is designed for preschoolers and includes lesson plans and training)

Schedule: weekday mornings (about 9:00 AM-12:00 PM), with possible expansion to afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, school breaks, camps and special events.
