Multi-Skill Technician

About the role

As a Multi‑Skill Technician at 3M, you will work on a variety of manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance through installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with a global team of innovators to keep production lines running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, document, install, maintain, repair, replace, modify, troubleshoot, diagnose, program, optimize, and design manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain and repair electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and pumps.
• Install, upgrade, and calibrate equipment; perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Complete shop records and use reporting systems following established procedures.

Required profile

• Two‑year technical degree/diploma in a maintenance field (or within six months of completion).
• At least six months of PLC troubleshooting or programming experience.
• Willingness to work weekends, overtime, holidays, and provide short‑notice shift coverage.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• PLC troubleshooting and programming.
• Experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
• Knowledge of analog and digital AC/DC drive systems.
• Calibration and metrology expertise.
• Mechanical systems experience: bearings, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams: PLC logic, process flow, instrument flow, and P&ID drawings.
• Proficiency with electrical tools, test equipment, and industrial plant instrumentation.
