Multi-Language Interpreter - Onsite Indiana

About the role

aFit Staffing is seeking professional, reliable interpreters to provide in-person interpretation services throughout Indiana. Interpreters bridge the communication gap between multi-language speakers and English-speaking healthcare providers, government agencies and community organizations, working in public health, healthcare, social services and community outreach. The position is onsite in the Indiana/Indianapolis area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete and unbiased interpretation between spoken Arabic, Burmese, French, Haitian, Hakha-Chin, Kinyarwanda, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya and English (proficient in one language and English).
• Interpret during healthcare appointments, public health visits, meetings, trainings and community events.
• Maintain confidentiality in line with HIPAA and professional interpreter ethics, and interpret faithfully without adding, omitting or altering meaning.
• Remain neutral and professional, arrive on time and prepared, and travel to assigned locations across Indiana.
• Update the staffing team on availability and scheduling, and complete required documentation after each assignment.

Required profile

• Fluency in spoken one of the listed languages and English.
• Ability to work onsite in Indiana/Indianapolis, with reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
• Authorization to work in the United States and ability to pass background screening.
• Preferred: previous professional interpretation experience, knowledge of HIPAA, and national certification (e.g., CCHI, NBCMI, ATA).
