ASL Interpreter - Onsite Indianapolis

About the role

aFit Staffing, a woman-owned staffing company based in Indianapolis, is offering a part-time, onsite, 1099 contract position for an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. The interpreter works in person at various client locations in medical and community settings around Indianapolis, choosing their own assignments as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, in-person sign language interpretation at client sites in and around Indianapolis.
• Accurately interpret in medical and community settings and ensure language access is provided.
• Choose your own assignments and work as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service and act as a trusted partner with the client.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language or fluency.
• Strong understanding of sign language and Deaf culture.
• Must be able to travel to necessary locations within Indiana; neighboring states are welcome.
• No relocation assistance is offered.

Required skills

• 3+ years of ASL interpreting experience.
• NIC certification or higher, following the RID Interpreter Code of Ethics.
• Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) is a major plus.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, learn quickly and give attention to detail.
