About the role

The University of Miami Health System Department of Radiology is seeking a per diem MRI Technologist 1 to perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures and ensure the highest quality diagnostic images. The role involves operating MRI equipment, interacting with patients, and supporting radiologists in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review MRI orders, verify appropriateness, and resolve discrepancies with physicians.
• Confirm patient identity, obtain consents, and provide education before scans.
• Operate MRI scanners and related equipment safely, following age‑appropriate standards and institutional protocols.
• Position patients, use immobilization and protective devices, and maintain aseptic technique.
• Assist radiologists with procedures, including IV start‑ups and contrast administration when required.
• Evaluate technical quality of scans, organize images, label correctly, and transmit to PACS.
• Adhere to regulatory guidelines such as Joint Commission, AHCA, ACR, FL DOH, and FDA/MQSA.
• Support day‑to‑day departmental operations and safeguard university assets.

Required profile

• Current staff, faculty, or temporary employee of the University of Miami may apply via internal process.
• Qualified to perform MRI procedures and follow safety and regulatory standards.
• Ability to establish rapport with patients and communicate effectively.
