MQ-9 UAS Sensor Operator II (Cherry Point, NC)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an MQ-9 UAS Sensor Operator II at Cherry Point, NC. The operator assists the pilot in command of MQ-9 aircraft and provides safe operation of aircraft payloads, sensors and communications equipment in CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in every phase of flight: planning and briefing, execution, debrief and crew resource management.
• Follow military, civilian and ICAO flight rules, including FAA regulations.
• Provide expertise in unmanned aircraft operation and sensor operations.
• Develop briefing and training materials for flight operations.
• Plan and perform analog, digital, microwave, optical and mechanical systems and equipment tests under ambient and environmental conditions.
• Help integrate UAS safely and efficiently into the National Airspace System, working with government agencies and the original equipment manufacturer, without reducing capacity, safety or increasing risk to airspace users or people and property on the ground.

Required profile

• Active Top-Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required).
• High school graduate or equivalent with 5+ years performing US military requirements, or a BA/BS in engineering, business, logistics, management, math, sciences or professional aeronautics with 5+ years.
• At least one year of MQ-9 Sensor Operator duties in the last 10 years, or 3 years in the last 15 years, supporting US Naval/USAF UAS flight operations.
• Qualified MQ-9 Sensor Operator or Form 8 within the last 3 years, and at least 200 hours as MQ-9 Sensor Operator.
• Current FAA Class I or Class II medical certificate or DOD equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to work extended hours, travel as required and work as a team.

Preferred qualifications

• Qualified MQ-9 Line of Sight Launch and Recovery (LOS L/R) Sensor Operator or Form 8 within the last 3 years.
• Deployed operational experience as an MQ-9 Sensor Operator in the last 5 years.
