Mortgage Supervisor

About the role

The Mortgage Supervisor will lead a small team within Popular's mortgage lending unit, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and high‑quality service. This role combines hands‑on supervision with strategic planning to drive performance and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Establish unit goals, develop action plans, and monitor progress against targets.
• Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, assign tasks, and oversee daily operations to improve effectiveness.
• Communicate policies and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
• Identify and resolve operational problems, recommend efficiency improvements, and manage budget for cost control.
• Conduct staff meetings, prepare project updates, and delegate individual tasks.
• Supervise at least two full‑time employees, coach and develop team members, and foster a collaborative, diverse work environment.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of mortgage lending operations, underwriting guidelines, credit analysis, loan structuring, and regulatory requirements.
• Several years of experience in mortgage underwriting or credit analysis, with a proven track record in evaluating residential loan applications and assessing credit risk.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑management experience, including coaching and performance development.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS).
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
