Modeling & Simulation Engineer - Terrestrial Electronic Warfare

About the role

CACI is seeking an intermediate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer to support its defense programs at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The position focuses on modeling, simulating and representing terrestrial radio-frequency (RF) signals and systems, including ground-based radar, tactical communication networks, terrestrial jammers and electromagnetic environmental effects. It supports hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and software-in-the-loop (SWIL) testing.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret parametric data, technical intelligence and design documents to model ground-based RF emitters, tactical communications and electronic attack (jamming) systems.
• Create, test and integrate algorithms that simulate FHSS, DSSS and other analog/digital modulation schemes.
• Develop simulation environments accounting for terrain masking, multipath interference, atmospheric loss and foliage penetration.
• Translate threat system logic, antenna patterns and scan behavior into functional software models.
• Support integration of threat models into simulated environments to test tactical EW software.

Required profile

• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (active Secret clearance preferred).
• 2+ years of professional experience in engineering, modeling or software development.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science or closely related).
• Ability to analyze physical systems and represent them mathematically or programmatically.

Required skills

• Programming fundamentals: variables, functions, Booleans, arrays, algorithm design and OOP concepts.
• Comfort with Windows-based office tools (Office Suite, Visio).
• Desired: knowledge of EW and RF principles, familiarity with Longley-Rice, TIREM or APM propagation models, and experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, GNU Radio, Git/GitLab and RF test equipment.
