Mobile Engineer – React Native (Boston)

About the role

General Medicine is building a healthcare store that simplifies shopping for care. As a Mobile Engineer you will create the company’s first native mobile app using React Native, shaping its architecture and establishing development patterns that will guide future work.

Key responsibilities

• Design and launch the native mobile app from scratch, making core architectural decisions.
• Develop and maintain React Native codebases, integrating native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) modules when needed.
• Collaborate with the Next.js web team to share code and ensure a unified product experience.
• Write product requirement documents, run SQL queries to monitor feature performance, and own QA processes.
• Work closely with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building mobile applications with production‑ready React Native.
• Strong understanding of native iOS or Android development (Swift or Kotlin) and ability to contribute to native modules.
• Comfortable working in TypeScript and React, and experienced with Expo build tooling and OTA updates.
• Willingness to work onsite in Boston (minimum 3 days per week) and operate in a hybrid setting.
• High agency, curiosity about healthcare systems, and ability to handle technical trade‑offs quickly.
