Mid-Level Provider (NP/PA) – Buena Vista, CO

About the role

The Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a qualified Mid-Level Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver acute, chronic, and emergency medical care to inmates at the Buena Vista facility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct physical examinations and obtain detailed medical histories.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions.
• Prescribe medications in accordance with CDOC formulary guidelines.
• Provide sick call, emergency treatment, and chronic care clinics as assigned.
• Make rounds in infirmary or skilled nursing settings.
• Order laboratory and diagnostic tests relevant to inmate care.
• Perform minor procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, cyst excision, splint and cast application, and toenail removal.
• Deliver emergency medical coverage, including basic life support and lifesaving interventions.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Colorado.
• Experience providing medical care in a correctional or similar institutional setting is preferred.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to CDOC policies and protocols.
