Metrology Engineer

About the role

IQVIA Laboratories in Indianapolis is seeking a Metrology Specialist to support laboratory operations. The role covers qualification, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of analytical and process instrumentation, with a focus on regulated equipment, and also supports equipment lifecycle documentation and software validation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled qualification, calibration, preventive maintenance and repair of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Install and qualify new equipment and coordinate vendor installation and qualification when needed
• Troubleshoot instrumentation issues, diagnose root causes and repair or coordinate with internal teams and vendors to minimize downtime
• Maintain lifecycle documentation, calibration records, standard operating procedures and audit-ready equipment files
• Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs, risk assessments and inventory records for instruments, consumables and spare parts
• Support software validation with vendors and internal IT teams

Required profile

• Associate's degree in electronics or mechanical technology or a closely related field
• One or more years of experience in metrology, calibrating and troubleshooting lab instrumentation including UPLC, HPLC, LC and LC/MS
• Experience in a regulated environment such as GMP or GLP
• Hands-on experience in calibration and repair of measuring and test equipment, and in troubleshooting laboratory equipment
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office, including Excel
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Communication, presentation and organizational skills, and ability to work independently

The stated base pay range is $46,200 to $96,200 per year, depending on qualifications, location and schedule; additional compensation may depend on the position offered.
