Men’s & Women’s Assistant Track & Field Throws Coach

About the role

The St. Olaf College Athletics Department is seeking a part‑time Men’s and Women’s Assistant Track & Field Throws Coach. The role supports both indoor and outdoor seasons, working closely with the head coaches to develop student‑athletes in the throws events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in instruction, practice planning, and advisement for men’s and women’s throws programs.
• Support head coaches in implementing training programs and practice plans.
• Coach student‑athletes during pre‑season, in‑season practices, and competitions.
• Mentor athletes to promote athletic, emotional, and social growth.
• Attend all competitions, contribute to meet strategies, and assist with meet preparation and day‑of logistics.
• Manage equipment care and home competition logistics.
• Participate in recruiting activities, evaluate prospects, and maintain communication with potential student‑athletes.
• Comply with NCAA Division III, MIAC, and St. Olaf bylaws.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of coaching experience at the high school, club, or college level.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and travel with teams.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student‑athlete development.
• Successful completion of background checks and eligibility verification.
