Membership Director

About the role

The Membership Director reports to the Associate Executive Director and leads membership sales and service at the North Suburban YMCA, overseeing all aspects of member acquisition, retention, and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, train, supervise and evaluate membership representatives.
• Meet and exceed monthly and annual membership prospecting and sales goals.
• Manage prospect lifecycle: leads, tours, walk‑ins, phone inquiries, referrals, guest passes, terminations and campaign prospects.
• Maintain accurate tracking and follow‑up using the member management system and YMCA app.
• Coordinate Intro to Personal Training appointments for new members.
• Monitor Net Promoter Score feedback and act on member concerns.
• Collaborate with program directors to improve registration and welcoming processes.
• Assist in planning special events such as Healthy Kids Day, 5K Road Race, health fairs and membership drives.
• Develop and manage the Membership Budget.
• Provide coverage for opening, closing and weekend shifts as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 3–5 years experience in sales, marketing, hospitality or health‑and‑wellness member services.
• Child Abuse Prevention certification (or within 30 days of hire) and all YMCA of Greater Boston mandatory trainings.
• Oxygen Administration, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the YMCA member management system.
• Experience using the YMCA mobile app and related technology.
