Medical Technologist – Night Shift

About the role

The Medical Technologist will join the SLW Laboratories team at Saint Lucie West Med Center, providing patient‑first laboratory testing during night shifts. You will work alongside dedicated caregivers in a fast‑paced environment, performing and interpreting tests of all complexity levels.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct quality laboratory testing, ensure accurate specimen identification, and report results in compliance with AHCA, CLIA, COLA, and JCAHO standards.
• Maintain instrument operation, perform maintenance checks, troubleshoot equipment, and manage reagent inventory and expiration dates.
• Communicate critical values, instrument malfunctions, and supply issues to physicians, nursing staff, and supervisors.
• Provide technical support to phlebotomists and answer telephone inquiries.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological Sciences or Medical Technology (or higher).
• Florida state licensure at technologist level with at least one of Microbiology, Immunohematology, or related licenses.
• Availability for night shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and floating between Saint Lucie West and Tradition Hospital.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microbiology, Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine, and Serology testing.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems and instrument troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow strict quality control procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
