Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Medicine Pre‑operative Assessment Clinic

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Medicine Pre‑operative Assessment Clinic (MPAC) team at Saint Lucie West Med Center. You will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based inpatient care for adult patients preparing for surgery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans for acutely ill adult surgical patients.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and initiate appropriate therapies.
• Document patient care in the electronic medical record and communicate plans to physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, educational activities, and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and safety policies.

Required profile

• Current FL licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Certification by AANP/ANCC (NP) or NCCPA (PA) and BLS/ACLS certification.
• Experience in inpatient/hospital medicine or related subspecialty preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Ability to order and interpret laboratory, radiology, and cardiographic tests.
• Prescribing and medication management within scope of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
