Medical Records Technician (Santa Clara, CA)

About the role

Advantmed is hiring Medical Records Technicians in Santa Clara, California. The company travels to medical facilities and hospitals to scan patient medical records, using company-provided laptops and portable scanners. It is a part-time, seasonal position with possible extension depending on project needs.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a record system for patient information and gather documents.
• Use electronic systems to collect, organize and manage data, keeping records accurate and complete.
• Create digital copies of paperwork and store records electronically.
• File paperwork and reports quickly and accurately.
• Ensure HIPAA standards are met and follow confidentiality guidelines.
• Interact with medical staff, healthcare providers and other medical personnel.

Required profile

• Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.
• Own car with active insurance in your name (registration documentation provided).
• Willingness to drive up to 60-80 miles round-trip.
• Home internet access and basic PC and office equipment skills.
• Availability from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the respective time zone to visit facilities.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Required skills

• Good-to-have: previous healthcare experience (hospital, clinic, medical office).
• Good-to-have: EHR/EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech.
• Good-to-have: intermediate knowledge of medical chart structure and terminology.
• Good-to-have: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Good-to-have: printer and scanner operation and troubleshooting.

What we offer

• $18-$22 per hour or $3 per record, whichever is higher.
• Semi-monthly pay based on hours or records, whichever is higher.
• Paid mileage and some travel expense reimbursement.
• $50 daily food allowance when travelling out of state, plus flight, hotel and rental if required.
